If you can't find a head unit your looking for then you can pick up a fairly cheap after market stereo. If you buy a common brand (i.e Sony) then go to halfords and you can buy an adaptor which plugs straight into the back of your stereo and to the car and gives you the full use of your stalk controls. Thats what me and everyone has done. The adaptor will probably set you back £15 from halfords but it's well worth it if it gets your stereo running the way you want it

Jason, as it happens I have just replaced my stereo and still have the genuine Renault/Philips one. Be careful, I bought a replacement sony unit and have had a 'mare of a time with adapters - in the end it turns out my new head unit isnt compatible with the adapters and therefore I have to accept I wont be using the stalk control any more!
So if you want to buy my renault head unit, pm me and we can arrange something - otherwise, be careful and check for compatibility with the adapters available!

JBL, where are you trying to connect the stalk adapter plug? the wiring adapter doesnt connect to the plug behind your stereo, its connects up by the screen.

Ross, the main problem with the sony adapters is they use a 3.5mm jack for the actual stalk control function, now I was under the impression that ALL sony head units would have the appropriate socket for this plug.. Well I seem to have found the exception t the rule! There is no 3.5mm socket on my head unit.
I got the audio guy ut from my local halfrds, and he told me until I get a different head unit I will have to go withut the stalk controls. There is no reason why the screen adapter wouldnt work - but to be honest, I dont think the benefit is worth £30!
Ive seen a £400 ripspeed head unit with a 7 inch touch-screen that pops out, and ive fallen in love with it so gonna start saving for that already along with the alloys!

think they are on offer atm, u can get them cheaper, thing is with the flip out monitor the flap thing on our lags gets in the way, get it wil come out nicely and at an angle u can c before you buy it. Also if ure gonna buy a flip out, buy a decent one, its worth it for the extra couple of hundred!

The problem with Meganes and Scenics unfortunately is that you need an aftermarket facia surround if you replace the stereo which can be expensive too.
