4Car can exclusively reveal that Renault is building a road-legal version of its Clio Cup racing car.

Renault will take the car that competes in its single-make race series and adapt the lights, handbrake, wiring loom, air intake and exhaust to allow it to be driven on UK roads.

This means that UK buyers will be able to drive a 205bhp car with racing suspension and a six-speed, steering wheel-mounted sequential gearbox to and from track days. Full performance figures haven't been revealed yet, but with a weight of only 930kg, we expect it to be seriously quick.

The interior will be as spartan as you'd expect from a genuine racer: fully stripped out and fitted with a rollcage, there will be only two bucket seats with racing harnesses, basic instrumentation from Renault single-seaters, no air con and no radio.

The car will be built to order at RenaultSport's Dieppe factory for those dedicated hard* owners who are prepared to hand over the £24,500 necessary to secure one

Nah thanks, i would rather pay less for a V6

but can you imagine the handling and acceleration? the only thing i miss from my clio days is the handling, the lag is a boat in comparison!

No way mate, Clio V6 looks better, sounds better and i reckon it can outperform the 205bhp version too!

V6 is heavy, power to weight, i bet the cup racer is better
