Hello Renault world! Laughing

I`m Fred from Essex.

As my screen-name suggests, I`ve just acquired an absolutely MINT 1998 V6 Laguna with 83K miles. Dancing

It`s currently having it`s private plate transferred, so I wont get it until that`s sorted (2 weeks). Shocked

If anyone can give me any pointers as to what the usual weak points are with this model, (I carry out all my own mechanical work) it would be most appreciated.

Unfortunately, I don`t have any pics yet, & can`t get any, as it`s locked away in the guys garage, & not moving until the plates are sorted. Embarassed

But it`s black, & totally standard, except for the panel filter & 17" multi-spoke alloys. Cool

It`s also my 1st Renault (I`ve had Fords, Vauxhalls & Nissans before), but the 1st car I remember my dad having, was a Renault 6 (with the strange gearstick! Shocked

) in the late `70s. Laughing

Hi Fred and welcome to the largest renault forum on the internet, I had to chuckle there as the 1st car i ever remember my dad having was a renault 4L, we lived in Cyprus and it was called a bondu basher as it got him every whare.

youre in good company in here with v6 owners! would be great to see some pictures of your motor when you can get them up! i dont see many black lagunas. Id say its the second or third best colour. vying for position with yellow. Neither of which compares to white of course Laughing

Check with the cars history and make sure the cambelt and water pump have been replaced Wink

Any Renault dealership shouild be able to tell you over the phone FOC if you dont have the paper history!

Thanks for the advice guys, but there are no worries with the history, as the previous owner is one of my best mates, & I`ve personally known the car for about 18 months (he`s the 2nd owner & had it 3 years) all the belts were changed last month, when it went for it`s MOT & I`ve also helped him source an A/C pump for it & various other little bits, so he practically gave it to me! Dancing

(He`s now got a Rover 75!)

I will no doubt have alot more questions when I actually get my hands on it & I will certainly be sending my membership off very soon! Cool

Re. the water pump, I`ll have to double check on that, (sorry for the question) what sort of mileage are they good for then? (the car has done 83k)
