After thinking long and hard i have decided that after everything so far i have to stick with my Laguna. Better the devil you know. I have £2500 to spend on my laguna so whilst im at sea for the next 6 weeks the bodykit will be fitted and the whole bodystyling will be done the way i want it. Not sure on a colour though, i like the original green however with the chrome wheels and black window tints i'm thinking of changing the colour to black.
What ever i have left from that money i will spend on having the little engine niggles wrinkled out. I might even pull out some extra money to have the turbo made into a hybrid and an ecu remap. Thats still money dependant.
Thanks for the info on the R21's though, something to think about for a future project.

Tony,
as far as having your turbo made into a hybrid, I wouldn't bother as it will almost certainly be cheaper to get another turbo.
As far as I'm aware the T25 uses the T2 exhaust flange which then means you have a vast choice of T25 and T28 turbos which will fit and produce as much power as your standard bottom end will handle.
You could even go as far as the GT28RS which is a relatively large turbo (supports up to 350 bhp on the nissan 1.8 engine) but because it is a ball bearing turbo it will spool up like a small turbo so you get to retain the driveability of the standard set up. Garrett ones are horribly expensive but the chinese copies are peanuts on Ebay.
I know people go on about how bad the cheap turbos are but I was talking to a chap that rebuilds turbos for a living and he pointed out that nobody sets out to build a bad turbo. Maybe the cheap ones will only last 20-30K miles instead of 70-80K but at a third of the price does it really matter too much?
It's got to be worth a thought.
